Why Not Try to Paint Your Home Without a Decorator?

November 7, 2017 Posted by kyu7

Services are very important in our days. For every activity you can hire professional help which can guarantee that your project will be executed in a certain amount of time and in the exact conditions that you need. There are people who are meant to assist you when you want to buy a telephone or when you can’t decide upon the right dress for a party. There are people who take your order and bring you food when you go to a restaurant or fast-food.

But what if you would try to do something without any assistance? Sometimes you can cut your own hair, paint your own nails or bake your own cake. Some people enjoy building dog houses or kites. There are activities where you could simply avoid asking for professional help and enjoy discovering the best ways to get along. You will be surprised to notice first of all that you will use a smaller budget. You will spend your money only on materials and not on manpower, too.

One of the things you can successfully do on your own is painting your home. Of course, a decorator knows the latest trends and can finish the job in a given time. Nevertheless, you can search for tips on how to paint on the internet, in magazines or you can get advice from experienced friends. This is the most important step. You need to make a short research on what you have to do, go shopping for the tools and the paint and start working.

This kind of activity can be extremely fun, especially when you team up with a friend or with your partner. Newlyweds will get a sense of ownership of the place when they paint their home together. They will also realize how well they can work as a team and will have one more thing in common. In families with children, painting the house can become a family activity. All the members may feel important when they are asked to share their preferences regarding the paint colors for each room.

Usually when you start a painting project you think about keeping your family away from the work site because of the unpleasant paint smell. But nowadays producers encourage their clients to ask their families’ help when painting. They supply the stores with eco-paint with no smell at all. The idea that paint stinks won’t chase your family away until the paint is applied and dried. Instead now every member can bring his/her contribution to the home painting project without any risk.

Painting Your Home’s Exterior – DIY Tips

November 7, 2017 Posted by kyu7

If you are planning to paint the exterior of your home, your first decision is do I hire a painter or do the job myself. More than half the cost of using a professional painter is labor so doing the job yourself can be a big savings. Painting your home is a dreaded and labor intensive job but a little preparation and hard work can produce very satisfying results.

If you decide to do the job yourself the following tips will help produce a great looking cost effective job.

Tips:

1. Tools and Equipment

Using the proper tools will help produce a safer and higher quality job. Make sure you use the correct ladder or scalpel for the job. Follow the recommendations for ladder and scalpel safety. Most ladders have warning labels posted on the ladder.

Use a good quality brush and roller. Good quality tools last longer and help make the job easier. Make sure you have drop cloths readily available to cover areas that need protection such as sidewalks, driveway, porches, patios, decks and shrubbery.

2. Surface Preparation

Surface preparation is a critical step to producing a quality, professional looking job. All damaged wood should be repaired. Use a paint scrapper, putty knife and sander to remove all flaking, peeling and blistering paint. Minor damage to wood surfaces can be repaired with a quality wood repair product from your local building supply store. I recommend using goggles, gloves and a dust mask while scrapping and sanding. This is hard, time consuming work but it will help produce an outcome that will make you proud.

3. Choosing Paint

Choose high quality paint. Choosing a lesser quality paint may save you a few dollars now but you will pay over time. A high quality paint is easier to apply, easier to maintain and more durable than the cheaper paints.

4. Painting the Exterior

Paint from the top down to avoid dripping paint on surfaces you have already painted. Start with the gutters, fascia and eaves and work your way down the wall surface. Using a good quality 4 or 5 inch brush will make for an easier faster job. Check for and correct drips and runs as you go along.

Painting the main walls can be painted with a brush, roller or both. If you have grooved siding, the grooves should be painted first. Paint the grooves in a 4 to 5 foot section and then roll or brush the flat surface before moving to the next 4 to 5 foot section. If you have lapped siding, paint the underside of each lap in a 4 to 5 foot section and then roll or brush the flat surface before moving to the next 4 to 5 foot section.

5. Painting the Exterior Trim, Windows and Doors

I recommend using a 2 or 3 inch angled brush to paint trim. Paint in line with the woods grain to accomplish a smoother finish.

When you are painting windows, paint the stiles, rails, casing and then the sill. There is no need to mask the glass when painting window or door glass. Paint should lap onto the glass by about 1/16 inch. Clean up any excess paint on the glass by wrapping a cloth over the end of your putty knife while the paint is still wet. Any paint you miss can be easily cleaned up with a razor blade after it dries.

Prepping To Paint Your Home

November 7, 2017 Posted by kyu7

A fresh layer of paint can do wonders to the appearance of a home. Old or new, any home can benefit from a few paint jobs here and there. But painting your home takes more than just picking out a new color and rolling it on. There are a couple of steps and considerations to take into account before beginning your home makeover.

Start by assessing the wall or area to be painted. Keep an eye out for blistering or peeling paint, stains, rusts or mildew. Once you’ve figured out which spots need extra attention, it’s now time to begin with the dirty work

Scrapping and Sanding

Use a putty knife and wire brush to remove damaged paint. A sharp pull scraper can be used for larger areas. This can remove any old paint down to the surface underneath. When dragging perpendicularly across, be extra careful not to gouge the wood.

Once you’ve removed the unnecessary old layer of paint here and there, smooth out the surface with sandpaper. To avoid exhausting yourself, use an electrical orbital sander for more thorough results. Avoid using an electrical disc sander or sander belt which can cause unevenness on the wood.

Melting and Liquid Paint Remover

If the layer of paint is too thick for manual scraping, melting it can be more effective. With the use of an electric paint remover, heat the paint and remove it as you go with its built-in scraper. Wear thick gloves to protect you from burns.

As a last resort, use a liquid paint remover to strip away paint. Although effective, it can be costly, especially if you are working on a rather large area. It can also easily spill over perfectly good paint, damaging it and leaving you with more areas to retouch.

Priming

Once your surface has been striped, you may now apply primer. This coating provides wood with extra protection and foundation. Before slathering a layer of primer, consider first the paint to be used as there are specific primers for each type of paint.

Washing

Giving the area a good bath will provide you with a dirt-free canvas for a fresh layer of paint. Consider the size of the area to be painted and the amount of dirt that needs to be rinsed off. You may typically be able to use a garden hose to wash off any dirt. If the area is heavily soiled or caked, you may need the help of a sponge, some detergent and a few pails of warm water.

Quick Tips on Painting Your Home

November 7, 2017 Posted by kyu7

Paint has been around for many years. Most people decide they want to paint their home to give it a fresh look. It always amazes me how a splash of color can transform an entire room. When you visit your local paint store to choose a color, it is almost overwhelming. There are so many different kinds of paint, colors, textures and ways to paint your home. After spending a few hours in the paint store I learned a few tips about painting.

1. There are a million colors to choose from. When deciding on a color you want to pick a color that will complement the room decor you have in the home already or a color that will complement the decor to be. Most people shy away from the colors because they don’t know how things will end up.

2. If you want to change the color or sheen you must use 2 coats. This will make sure there is proper coverage on the walls. When you change the color you want to make sure that the color before is not bleeding through the new color. Also when you change the sheen and don’t use proper coverage, you can see all the roller streaks.

3. If you are changing the sheen, the best option would be to go with a flat/matte. This will hid any blemish or wall defects the best. Also, if you need to touch up an area on the wall, the flat or matte finish will blend in a few months down the road vs. painting the whole wall to make sure the sheen’s match.

4. Make sure that you prep the walls properly. Fill in the holes with mud/putty. If you are on a time crunch be sure to get the 20 minute mud. Once it dries sand it smooth then texture appropriately. After the texture, you are almost ready to paint. I would recommend using tape to put around all the trim and ceilings (especially if they are popcorn) to make sure you don’t accidentally get the wall color on the trim/ceilings. Make sure the paint has dried COMPLETELY so the paint doesn’t come off with the tape.

5. Be sure that you have made a clear path that will allow you to get in and out of the room without touching or damaging the walls. The ideal situation is to push all the furniture into the center of the room, so you are not doing unnecessary moving. Another good thing about having everything in the center of the room, is the ability to put drop cloths over the furniture and protect it from any paint spatters.

6. Now you are ready to begin. When rolling make sure your technique is the same through out. This will help save paint usage. If you get tired and need a break DO NOT lay the roller on the wall as the paint is trying to dry. This will cause a variation in the amount of paint in that area and cause the wall to now blend well. You don’t want to submerge your roller into paint, where the paint is dripping off. This will cause a huge mess. Also, don’t press the roller into the wall. Just smoothly go over the wall with the roller. This will allow the proper amount of paint through out the room.

Top 10 Ways Healthcare Facilities Are Using Video Conferencing

December 1, 2016 Posted by kyu7

1. Boundary Less Healthcare via Telemedicine Video Conferencing – video conference solutions enable Doctors and Healthcare companies to offer a low-cost, high-impact way to deliver rapid knowledge to physicians, either to save lives or to gain additional medical training, sales and research. Healthcare Facilities Are Using Video Conference To Improve Patient Outcomes, Increase Revenues, & Reduce Expense.

2. Remote Patient Monitoring – for locations with limited access to specialized doctors, campuses can connect to share resources and offer healthcare programs to all patients across distant locations and even remote villages. Physicians from large teaching hospitals or medical centers can connect with their remote patients, via video communication for the purpose of rendering a diagnosis and subsequent treatment plan.

Videoconferencing enables the patient to see a specialist during a remote consultation accomplished in real-time, or the transmission of images, such as x-rays, along with patient data for later viewing. This is especially important for patients living in rural areas, or who are too ill to travel great distances to visit a specialist or clinic. The specialist can easily control the distant patient side camera, share their PC content, and access browser-based applications like EMR/EHR, PACS, and lab reports. Physicians can provide their expertise even from home and provide accurate examinations.

3. Patient education – Through video conferencing, the patients with chronic conditions can have their questions answered and be given more extensive medical knowledge via our interactive technology. These patients can be provided with a specialist opinion from a large medical center, or suggested a telehealth solution to explore other treatment options.

4. Extend Medical Education and Training to unreachable locations – Video conference enables medical teaching staff to demonstrate techniques and skills to medical students or to doctors renewing their medical license, continuing medical education for health professionals and special medical education seminars for individuals and groups in remote locations.

Healthcare professionals can use their PCs for high definition video calls with colleagues from anywhere. The physician or practitioner can easily control the far-end camera, do Pan-tilt-zoom on camera for a complete view and share content live over video file sharing.

5. Attend video CME events from your home office or desktop

6. Conduct video grand rounds sharing PC content, live patient encounters, or recorded procedures

7. Video connect to nursing schools for up to date training and medical information

8. Effective Administration across all branches – Conduct administrative training and medical education using live or streaming video.

9. Advanced knowledge sharing practices – Physicians who practice out of large medical centers use video conferencing solutions to share healthcare information with physicians working in other areas of the country. For example, Dr A Reddy, in Hyderabad give lectures on cardiology, oncology, and diabetes to physicians around the world, from his home setup.

10. Pharmaceutical Sales & Training – Pharmaceutical companies typically hold between 3 and 4 meetings for field personnel per year to update sales and marketing strategies, bring new products to market, re-certify personnel on compliance and regulatory practices, and potentially to roll-out new hardware or software for sales force productivity. With medium and larger companies, this can mean hundreds, even thousands of employees at a single meeting.

It is not difficult to imagine the costs of travel, lodging, and training facilities for meetings of this size. Also, the amount of time lost in transit to and from the meeting can be anywhere from a few hours to an entire day. In a case study performed to compare various video conference solutions to in-person meetings, the online alternatives realized a 66-95% savings over face-to-face meetings Pharmaceutical companies could realize tremendous savings implementing web conferencing solutions in place of even a portion of their face-to-face meetings.

Web Design For Healthcare, Pharma And Medical Brands

October 17, 2013 Posted by kyu7

Healthcare web design is a varied and huge animal. A lot of healthcare web development companies have difficulty knowing where to start. But really the principles are the same in this industry for any experienced and accomplished healthcare web development professional. But it is how a visitor finds you, sees you and the experience that they have that will truly determine how successful you website is.

Trust

Your healthcare web developments have to encompass trust at their heart. This is going to be the most valuable commodity, especially if you are a new or unknown company or service provider. The sector you are in will also influence how difficult it is to build up online trust. So the diet sector along with a lot of alternative therapy providers will have an uphill battle to win.

The issue you will have is this. Healthcare, like life insurance, car insurance and many other critical areas of our lives screams to our subconscious that we should only trust someone we know or who has been recommended to us by our friends. If you go now to a website and see a life insurance banner, you are probably not going to click it or buy straight away from an unknown supplier.

So How Do You Build Up the Trust Required?

Well as part of your healthcare web design you need to have someone on your side who knows how to build trust. Having someone on your side that has been there and done it is priceless. We ourselves have gone through the pain barrier over the years. This means that we have taken the lessons and successes on board so that you don’t have to.

Building an integrated healthcare web development strategy that gives trust is a two part story. The first part is the impact and first time impression of your site. We know this and are experts at this aspect. On average a visitor will take only about 5-10 seconds to make their minds up as to whether to stay or to hit that back button on their browsers. So you are looking to drop in the quality indicators for that fast scan that holds the visitor and encourages them to explore.

Engaging With the Visitor

To build trust and to retain a loyal reader and potential customer your healthcare website design and quality content has to be engaging on many different levels. It is not just about looking smart and professional. In fact that may actually work against you in some healthcare areas. Sometimes having a more relaxed, non-officious approach can pay enormous dividends. It becomes less about marketing speak and more about satisfying a visitor’s needs.

Ideas for healthcare website design here include multimedia content in the form of videos, webinars or audio interviews and recordings. It could also mean having a blog which is less formal and can take and accept comments. After a while this comment conversation actually generates its own content and power.

Making the Website Experience Easy

If your healthcare web design is terrible then you are not going to keep anyone on site, no matter how good the content or how engaging. The content needs to be logically and well organised for easy access. Nothing should be too many clicks away either. Your organisation is a professional one, so it generally should look as though it was put together by a professional. A very high standard of graphics is absolutely necessary.

Functionality and Security

This is where, as far as healthcare web development is concerned, we come into what is dealt with and regulated by the regulations, such as the ABPI and other professional bodies. The main things to consider are the protection of personal data if you have a forum or membership element, the security of information and the segregation of certain information to restrict access to certain groups of users. For instance this may mean the separation of healthcare data for practitioners and customers.

This is critical for your company. If you do not achieve this in the architecture of the healthcare website design, you put yourself at risk on several fronts. We know the importance of making sure this is done properly. If it is not done correctly it could mean censure or even worse a criminal prosecution or civil proceedings.

Then there is the case of social media interaction. If you fail to understand or handle this properly you will come seriously unstuck. Social media is a superb way of encouraging involvement and building your brand and reach. Sites such as Facebook and Twitter have immense power. But there are also dangers that you could fall foul of. The speed with which information can be spread and the huge amount of users who will share it make the whole area very sensitive. Fortunately, we have a lot of experience in managing sensitive and regulated campaigns and making sure they are successful.

Conquering SEO to Increase Visibility

Search engine optimization is a valuable way to promote your site and brand and to provide an additional way of gaining trust and visitors. Healthcare website design should be carefully and fully optimised and promoted with ethical methods to help the site rise to the first page of the search engines. This is a good natural way to gain domain authority with the likes of Google.

Of course you are also at the mercy of those search engines and the way they decide they will assess how important your site is in relation to its content for their searchers. But by building and promoting smart, we are able to give you the stability through any changes that may come.

So as you can see, healthcare web design incorporates a lot of both simple and complicated elements. These involve proper presentation, content and interaction, along with providing the best platform and strategy to promote, segregate and protect your company.

It is essential to ensure that you have someone on board with vast experience and innovative solutions to guide you through this process. This will also mean you avoid the pitfalls of healthcare web design and the regulating codes and laws.

The Role Of Electronic Medical Records In Health Reform

October 9, 2013 Posted by kyu7

How Electronic Records Help Health Reform
Integration of electronic record keeping can help reduce overall health care expenses by limiting administrative costs, ensuring that duplicate procedures are avoided and checking for allergies and other medical sensitivities across a database. Optimally, the system aims to help medical professionals make better decisions based upon lab results, X-Rays, medical history records and a variety of hospital archives. While there is an up-front cost to integrating the systems, most modern hospitals are actively working to streamline their record keeping and open access to fellow medical facilities.

Currently, less than 25% of practicing doctors utilize electronic records for their patients, while emergency room rates are slightly higher. Under terms of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Congress allocated funds for doctors who integrate certified electronic record keeping systems . As standards become solidified, a growing number of medical practices are shifting to electronic records.

Privacy and Security in Reform
Many patients’ rights advocates have expressed concern over a central health records database, but medical companies are actively working to comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) so that records are securely stored and can only be accessed by practicing doctors. Incorporating privacy into insurance records is a core part of the process, and recent health reform efforts have helped streamline secure patient record standards.

Relying upon electronic documentation, it is much easier for doctors to show exactly why they performed a specific procedure. With this evidence, medical professionals are able to show that adverse medical outcomes were not caused by error, potentially limiting their tort liabilities. Although the legal aspects of health reform remain under debate, many medical professionals are working to limit medical transcription and record keeping errors to provide safer, more reliable medical care. A combination of improved record keeping, medical delivery and quality care can result in improvements in overall health outcomes.
